As you may know, the Nightbringer and the Deceiver are the only two of the four remaining C'Tan that there are models or concept art for. With the Void Dragon, I could cheat a little because the Void Dragon is so technology-centric, and plant crap all over him to hide the fact that the design is referencing anything. Now that I'm to the Outsider, I'm left with only recourse - a fallback designers across the ages have used time and again to hide the fact that their design itself does not mesh with previous designs: tits. Yes, tits. The cause of - and solution - to all of life's problems.

I drew this in front of a fireplace in a cold house with no electricity in the middle of the night. Amazingly, it came out okay despite the fact that I drew it blind. It took a while to figure out what position to draw her in, since I didn't want another boring 2d static pose, although those are necessary if you've ever done concept art. (You can't see details in action shots most of the time.)

The idea is that she hovers above the ground (can't tell in this, as I didn't have room) and is more of a sorcerer commander that directly attacks and debuffs enemy units. She has no weapons aside from those killer nails and probably a swift kick to your nuts.

Plenty of people have tried to make female Necrons and failed, as Necrons are basically just skeletons. Making a female skeleton results in a skeleton with boobs. Also, they don't have hair. In an earlier female 'cron drawing I did, I gave her a sort of Tomb Lord hat. I didn't want to do the same thing twice, so in this one, I gave her some psuedo-hair by making her cape extend from a headband. I was going to draw some Necron symbols across the surface of the cape/hair, but, well... it was in the middle of the night and I couldn't see anything to begin with aside from large shapes. Like boobies.

As far as how the design relates to the Outsider, well... HEY LOOK BOOBS. No, but really, the way I figured, the Outsider would likely be designed to look halfway crazy. Likely a lot of focus would be on having wide eyes that peer right into your soul, hence the halved look on her face. C'Tan don't really have interesting bodies. They're floating nudists with weird heads, after all, so I figured that's all the explanation I needed.

Personally, I really like the idea of having a female Necron Lord sailing across the battlefield on a cloud of glowing scarabs, shooting lightning from her fingertips and generally just showing off. Normal units, not so much. After wrapping up this series of four, hopefully someone on the DoW2 development team will see these for about ten seconds before becoming bored with obnoxious fan content, see some tits and think, "Hey, tits. Man, I love those fun bags." And maybe we'll get some interesting Necron commanders in the process.

In conclusion to this little project of mine, I'll reiterate that Necrons are boring, DoW1 Necrons were even more boring, tits are great, normal units like Immortals or Flayed Ones or Wraiths should not be commanders and that I hope that 4e Necrons get a lot more interesting. Maybe boobies will help.
