I've been playing Dawn of War 2 lately. Ignoring how much I hate its annoying musical chairs resource system (cap a point, go cap another point, enemy caps your point, you go back to recap that point, enemy caps your other point, etc.), I started thinking about how the small amount of units would influence Necrons. There are no massive vehicles, so Marines don't get a Land Raider, Orks don't get a Squiggoth or anything, etc. When IG get added in the next expansion (let's not fool ourselves, it'll be IG/Chaos and then Tau/Necron), they won't get a Baneblade, which is nearly heresy.

Inevitably, with the second expansion, Necrons will not get a Monolith, which will be incredibly strange, considering Necrons are basically "the Monolith race." EVERYTHING revolves around the stupid thing if you're a Necron. Not that I like that, but it does. So there won't be ANY impressive units on the field. The biggest thing a Necron has below a Monolith is a Tomb Spyder, or a Destroyer.

So, when I saw Predators and Looted Leman Russ tanks rolling around, blowing up squads of infantry, the idea of Necrons' final T3 vehicle being a pussy on a hoverboard pissed me off. I started thinking, "Destroyers sure are stupid looking. I wonder if I could make them look any better without actually changing their design?" And so I did. I basically shoved a Necron into a Necron tank.

I have a rant about how Destroyers don't make much sense to begin with, but let's just say that Games Workshop absolutely screwed up their robot race beyond aesthetic repair. Necrons are probably the worst major robotic race I've ever had the misfortune of following. Yet, I'm the undead/robot guy, so it's up to me to fix them.

There's always that new codex coming out, but we all know how that will turn out. A couple of worthless new units, unnecessary nerfs and some useless fluff that's nearly the same information we already have. And no unit redesigns. Ever.
