Neimadian Ship Ideas

Description

Took some time out to try the new scanner. I'd forgotten how old the last one was. This one actually scans in fast, quietly and without permanently picking up every minute flaw.

Ships in the Nahala-verse are more often than not relics unearthed by humans. None are sure where they came from, or why they all seemed to be designed to destroy one another.

Neimadian ships are all about the suspension fields that keep them aloft. When a suspension field is dissipated completely, the ship falls from the sky, although this is rare. Tense fields can "ricochet" and curve projectiles and beams, etc, by warping the immediate space around the ship so that forward becomes up, or down, or any other combination of directions. Finding the correct point of attack to actually get a projectile through is difficult.

Neimadian ships seemed to have been designed to attack suspension fields, themselves, although they're lacking in defensive measures and actual armor stripping capabilities. They are essentially flying guns with living quarters attached to them. Most have a single cannon that creates an invisible beam that warps space along a path, and creates a singularity when it comes into contact with another disruption in space, creating chained series of implosions and explosions as matter and energy interact in ways most don't understand. This heavily disrupts other suspension fields, but is almost worthless against armor. As enemy fields weaken, so does the power of a Neimadian ship.

Top: battleship type. Forward weapon is powerful but cannot be fired often. The ship often plays the role of flak support and armor stripper in a fleet lacking in those departments. Often the center of formations.

Left Center: assault type. Essentially two ship cores on one small vessel. Creates very tense suspension fields that do not expand well, but can disrupt enemy fields when the vessel flies through them. Heavily armored for a Neimadian ship. Can actually ram into or through some vessels. Otherwise lightly armed, aside from its main interdiction cannons.

Right Center: cruiser/all-purpose type. King of nothing in particular, and the most common type of ship. Often seen alone or in flotillas of three. Well armed, potentially agile and with good range. Struggles in closer ranges.

Left Bottom: support type. An array vessel. Common and numerous, they deploy to create nets and barriers to interweaving suspension fields. These protect the main body of a fleet. Skilled operators can work with other ships to weave beams and ballistics through their own fields, back at the ships that fired them.

Right Bottom: artillery type. Essentially nothing but a giant siege weapon. Very lightly armed aside from its main cannon, but capable of firing it more often than a warship. The main weapon itself can knock small ships entirely out of the sky, and cause massive armor damage in initial shots by causing localized explosions in a ship's suspension field. Is often deployed deep in a formation, far from the main battle.
